Filmcast Without a Cause is taking you down to the dirty south! Or at least a fictionalized version of one. The news this weeks talks about films being adapted into T.V. shows. Jacob and Pat's feature review for this week? The highly lauded Beasts of the Southern Wild. For fun and games our heroes recount films that made them cry and the stories that go with those tears.

    Man, so much to love in today's podcast.
    Jacob, you definitely need to check out "Happy Endings." That show, to quote one of the characters is "ah-mazing," and gives me hope that season four of "Community" will at least still be a decent comedy without Dan Harmon. Patrick, Spaced is one of the best British sitcoms of the 2000's and like you, my viewing was done in a marathon session one after another. So much of Edgar Wright's in-jokes and camera styles proved what those of us who love "Hot Fuzz," "Shaun of the Dead" and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" know - Wright has a very promising career as a film director.
    Also, another Jason Katims show based on a movie property now in it's fourth season is "Parenthood." I don't know if Katims is just good at structuring powerful dramas, but both "Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood" are great television dramas that more people should check out. The one problem with "Parenthood" is the amount of characters sharing the screen for stories in a season. I know, I know, this is a film podcast. But those two Katims shows adapted at least the name and concept of their original material into a worthy show.
    Also, it isn't released on the 14th, but "The Hunger Games" is on Blu-Ray/DVD on Aug. 18, and it was a pretty successful late March release.
    I'll have to check out "Beasts of the Southern Wild," because it sounds interesting, if it ever comes to my neck of the woods or on DVD later this year.
